# Create a campaign

> Step through the campaign form: basics, channels, voice agent, contacts, outcome, and schedule.

Open **AI Campaigns** and click **New campaign**. The form tracks your
progress across five sections — **Basic, Voice, Contacts, Outcome,
Schedule** — with a completion bar and a sticky **Save** button, so you can
fill it in any order and save as a draft at any point.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Basics">
    Name the campaign (a default name is pre-filled), add an optional
    description, and pick an icon. Then choose your **channels** with the
    Voice / SMS / Email pills — any combination works; Voice is on by default.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Sender number">
    Pick the phone number the campaign calls and texts from. No numbers yet?
    **Buy a number** or **Import a number** right from here — see
    [Phone numbers](/guide/ai-campaigns/phone-numbers).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Configure the voice agent">
    Choose the model, voice, and language, write the system prompt (or start
    from a persona template), and set the welcome message. Details in
    [Build your voice agent](/guide/ai-campaigns/voice-agent).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Write SMS and email messages (if enabled)">
    * **SMS**: a message template with `{{first_name}}`-style merge fields, a
      character/segment counter, and a live preview. "Reply STOP to opt out."
      is appended automatically, and opted-out or DNC'd numbers are skipped.
    * **Email**: subject and body with the same merge fields and preview. An
      unsubscribe footer is added automatically, and suppressed or bounced
      addresses are skipped — the form warns you if any selected recipients
      are already suppressed.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose the audience">
    Select one or more **contact lists**, or **Import from CSV**. Use
    **Preview contacts** to review and exclude individual people before the
    campaign dials them.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pick the outcome">
    **Data collection** (capture fields into a customer, lead, deal, or custom
    object), **Appointment booking** (books onto a distribution pool's
    connected calendars), or **Informational**. For data collection, tick the
    fields to capture and mark each **Required** or **Optional** — new records
    are auto-assigned to your team round-robin.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set the schedule">
    Start and end date/times, timezone, recurrence, the **daily calling
    window**, and an optional holiday calendar. See
    [Schedules & lifecycle](/guide/ai-campaigns/schedules-and-lifecycle).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Test, then start">
    Use **Test Campaign** to have a live voice conversation with your agent in
    the browser before any real contact is called. When you're happy, **Save**
    and click **Start** on the campaign.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  Campaigns save as **drafts** until you start them, so you can build one over
  multiple sittings. You can also **Clone** an existing campaign to reuse its
  setup.
